I've added many junky elements to
create my Shabby-Junk style...
Enameled pots...
A birdbath stand with a round paver on top makes a nice pedestal, another one turned upside down in the dirt makes a great planter...
will blend in well when the Phlox get taller...
Rusty pipes and stakes along with galvanized pots and
watering cans are everywhere!
I've made good use of vintage milk crates...
Bicycle baskets & old gates...
On our deck there's a cool and comfy outdoor room
with sliders to the inside...
A roadside find chandelier hangs from the inside of the tent...
And a great big outdoor table for family barbeques...
All to create a beautiful shabby-junk style backyard...
A great place to spend the summer!
Susan

Love this blog!!! Hey Susan, I showed hubby the canopy you have snuggled into the corner of your patio and I think we could do something like that to help cut down on the west sun hitting the back doors. Do you remember the dimensions of yours? and where did you purchase the one you have...also, do you know if they come in various sizes?
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed that tour. I like your "junk". :)

I've got an old wicker rocker. I planned on putting a big pot on the seat and setting it on my back deck, but now I think I might set it right in the garden!!! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteIt is fun to see your creativity at work making your garden a work of art. I love to see how others use interesting items and garage sale finds, etc. into their homes and yards.

Enjoying your "junk" and your lovely garden! :) -Amanda (www.fancylittlethings.com)
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I just did a post about all my yard "art", aka junk, too. :o) Love the enamel pots planted. I have several of those two poked around in the garden. If it's bound for a landfill, it usually ends up stuck in the dirt at my house. :o)
ReplyDeleteYou've done everything right in my opinion. Junky style can look, well...junky but yours is packed with style and personality. Great choices, great structure.
ReplyDeleteThis is my style, too, but when I blog about home staging, I don't usually recommend it because it can get to looking funky and it's not everyone's style. Personally, I can't get enough.
Thanks for letting us spend time in your garden and showing us the fascinating, closeup details!
What's the base of that paver-topped pedestal made from? It's perfect.
What a great outdoor space! I love all of the different layers and whimsical things you've collected. I think the "XO" in the garden is my fave.
ReplyDeleteI love all your Junk! I'll bet it never gets boring~
ReplyDeleteSimply lovely!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous junk yard garden ... nothing junky about it at all! And the tent over the patio with the chandelier is my favorite! We could hang and chat and share some wine ...
ReplyDelete:)
