African Violets & DIY Club Winner

Thank you DIY Club for choosing my
Potting Bench as the
Winner for April!

And now for the flowers....

African Violets, in a simple metal tin, were the
 centerpieces at my daughter's wedding...

We had lots of them!

They are bright and beautiful!

 and all over my house!

A lovely reminder...

of a beautiful day!

So pretty!

Deck and Secret Garden

Off my kitchen are 2 sliding doors that lead out to the deck,
my favorite room in the house...

One corner of the deck is covered with a gazebo...

Fabric shower curtains pull closed to keep out the rain...

The cubbie table has found it's way out on the deck...

Almost everything out here has been found, up-cycled
 or re-purposed...

Many old treasures furnish this space...
crates, tubs, baskets, repainted lanterns, pots and shutters.

This rusty funnel is a great place for another layer of plants...

An old gate adds interest to the side of the house...

This potting bench is one of my favorite pieces...

Beyond the deck is a secret little garden and shed...

Old shutters from a neighbor's garage
changed the look of the pallet table, one of my earlier creations...

Everything out here is just beginning to come alive...

Lettuce is coming up in the window greenhouse...

The base of an old bird bath turned upside down
in the dirt makes a great planter...

a winding pebble path encircles the plants...

I love warm weather living!

Pass the Cabernet...

Upcycling a China Cabinet Door #1

Nothing goes to waste around here....

Remember the China Cabinet Makeover...

I have 4 leftover doors with beautiful bubbled glass...

Since I can not throw away anything
I thought I might be able to upcycle these ....

and I did... Here's the first one...

I painted with Annie Sloan Old White Chalk Paint....

I sanded the edges to show age...

added a little key decor...

And hung it up.... sideways!
*note: these pictures were all processed through iPiccy...
a great alternative to Picnik!

Stay tuned for door #2!

White Ornate Mirror

Garage sale! $2.00

It would be perfect for my daughter's room...

and look... she's texting helping...

You've gotta love this Annie Sloan Chalk Paint...
You just slop it on right over the old chippy finish...

Paint it right into the cracks and then sand some off,
it's really ok if you miss spots...

because it still looks fabulous!

Ready to hang in my daughter's room!

Don't you just love to see them work for what they want?...
