Our Christmas Eve Tradition

Christmas Eve is a special time in our family.

We all get together, have oysters and burn a bayberry candle.

Every year for many generations a bayberry candle is lit on Christmas Eve morning.

As tradition dictates the candle burns all day long until it has gone out.

Some years that means leaving the house while it is still burning...

to be safe the candle goes into the empty sink or bathtub while we are gone.

Most years however the bayberry candle burns right there on the counter reminding us how lucky we are.
