Painting a Server with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint
This is the before picture of a beautiful server
that needs an update.
I'm making this piece a little more stylish by painting it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White.
I painted a light coat at first, then another thicker coat.
When the piece was dry I waxed it with clear wax.
I use a wax brush to wax and a rag to pull off the excess,
then a clean rag to buff. I find the wax brush helps disperse
the wax evenly and gets into all the crevices.
I cleaned up the hardware by using catsup... you can see that process here.
I distressed the server with fine sandpaper on all the edges...
the finished piece is gorgeous!
The top drawer is lined with felt...
and the inside of the closets is in perfect condition...
I left it unpainted to avoid any future scratches or stained
from items being stored inside.
Annie Sloan Chalk Paint is the easiest and best
way to update furniture that could use a little pizazz.
