Rustic Cone Flower Vase

It is hard to believe where this little beauty started out.

An old fashioned reproduction cone caught my
eye at a garage sale.

Not because of its faux vintage look but because of
it's metal shape and the rusty interior.

I purchased it along with a cutting board that was about
the same size as the cone... and then I attached them.

Two well placed screws was all it took.

Next I painted the whole piece with Annie Sloan
Chalk Paint® in Country Grey then traced on one of
my favorite images from The Graphics Fairy.

I used a piece of carbon paper between the image and the
cone then traced over the image with a pencil.

The transferred image was now on the cone and I painted
in the image with a Sharpie Paint Stick.

*Be sure to use an oil based paint stick as any kind of sealer or antiquing over the image may run if the paint stick is water based.

I used an antiquing stain over the piece when the paint was dry.

Then just added flowers!

Faux flowers look great or add a small jar to the inside to
hold fresh flowers.

A new life for an old cast-off in a few easy steps!
