A Repurposed Outdoor Potting Table

It was time to get rid of the old picnic table from the side of the house but I have trouble throwing out anything that can be used again...

This old picnic table is almost 50 years old and was used by my family when I was a child. The table has been around a long time but hasn't been used for anything in the corner of my yard for years.

I've been thinking for a while about building an outdoor potting table. I decided I might be able to make this old table into just what I needed... they just don't make them like this anymore!

I pulled off one of the boards on the top and flipped it around to the front. I had to cut the brace underneath a little shorter, then nailed the board in place. Flipping the board around made the table narrower and gave it the finished look of an apron front.

I used two cinder blocks and an old piece of wood to create a shelf for pots and tools.

Baskets and hooks attached to the shelf hang tools and garden accessories.

Resting against the shed, in the corner of my yard, this old table will be the perfect place for potting plants.

I used an old painted funnel to hold twine, a hook on the wall to hold a colander, and an old handmade tote works great as a place for garden tools.

As summer arrives, more flowers and plants will really liven up this area. This old table is a great start and gives our old picnic table another go around.

I love the rustic look of this table!
