A DIY Potting Bench From a Metal Grate

As you saw in my last post I used bits and pieces from things I had around the house to create a potting bench and today I will show you the finished piece.

After putting the potting bench together I brought it out into the garage to paint.

I began painting with a can of Pure White Annie Sloan Chalk Paint®. I painted all the wood with the chalk paint® then used a can of flat spray paint to finish it off.

The spray paint made it easier to paint around the metal mesh, it also added a protective layer to the table top and shelves.

I made hooks using a narrow board and antique nails to hang garden tools.

This small potting bench is the perfect size for a deck or small garden.

It can also be used in the house as a small bar... glasses on the top, cooler under the table, and the opener hanging from the hooks. (see how I think!)

The antique nail hooks are perfect for holding a wreath too.

Save those old parts! You never know what you can put together to create a new piece.
