Beautiful Repurposed Hutch Door

Believe it or not.... this beautiful repurposed project started out on the side of the road!

Driving down the street one day I noticed a pile of junk and when I pulled over I realized that it was a gorgeous hutch that someone pulled apart. They disassembled the entire gorgeous, antique piece.

I salvaged what I could which were a couple of thin doors and this window.

I knew this window could be beautiful but it took me a while to decide just how I wanted to repurpose it.

I began by painting the window Old White with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® then giving it a wash of French Linen over the top to give it a beautiful aged look.

Instructions for giving a piece a wash can be found {here}.

I finally decided to use a wreath stencil I found at Tuesday Morning on the glass.

I stenciled the wreath to the back of the window then painted a clear sealer over the black paint so it wouldn't easily scratch off the glass.

I love the way this old window turned out and I'm sure glad I stopped for this pile of junk.

A hutch painted entirely with this wash treatment would be beautiful and this stenciled technique is easy to do on glass doors.

Too bad the owner of this hutch didn't just put the whole piece to the curb without breaking it apart.
