There are many crafts on the go for kids out there... but what about Mom?

If you are like me... long car trips can be torture!

Sitting still is not one of my strong suits and reading a book leaves me out of the conversation.

So on a recent road trip to visit colleges, I headed off my boredom by making myself a little craft project in a Mason jar... aka Mom Craft on the Go.

I put scissors, thread, pins, a needle, and several pre-cut mini stockings into a tall mason jar and made a pin cushion for the lid.

The jar fits perfectly in the cup holder.

For me the hand sewing that is hard to just sit and do at home is the perfect thing to do while trapped in the car on a long road trip.

I just folded over the raw edges and whip stitched all the way around each stocking, easy to do in the car.

All my supplies were close at hand and stored in the jar when I put it away.

By the time we arrived at the college 3 hours later, I was half way finished with the 13 stockings I needed to sew and I just popped everything back into the jar for the ride home.

When we arrived home I was finished hand sewing 13 mini stockings and the ride both ways went quickly.

All I had to do was to embellish each stocking at home and they were ready for the next craft fair!

Crazy Craft Mom? Yes definitely but I bet there are more of you like me out there so here is a great boredom buster for long car rides.
