Vintage Ceiling Light Shade Repurposed Lantern

I love making things from repurposed parts and the last time I changed the lightbulb on the ceiling in my bedroom closet, the glass fixture shade was never replaced.

So what the heck? Who ever looked up there anyway?

When I saw these shades used to make gorgeous lanterns I pulled mine out and made a hanging lantern of my own.

Way more useful than on the ceiling in a closet that no one goes in besides me.

All I had to do was to wash the glass shade then wrap rebar wire around the lip of the shade. I bent the wire to form a hook then tied on an organza bow

Look at that beautiful detail in the glass!

Drop in a candle and you're done!

Like that hook the lantern is hanging from?

It is a vintage hamburger press made into a wall hook.

A couple years ago I made a repurposed bowl using a larger light shade and the fixture for a sweet 16 party and you can see it here.
