Fruit Crate Challenge...

My mother gave me this fruit crate saying,
"I'm sure you can figure out something to make with this..."

 Did I hear a challenge?
I think I did...

Ok, well here goes...
First, I painted it white...(of course!)
but only a white wash...
I wanted the Casa de Fruta to show...

Then I gave it a little brown stain and wiped it off as I painted it...

Then I decided to use it as a picture frame so I rounded up an old picture. This is my husbands parents...

The antiqued color in the original picture was pretty
bad, my father-in-law had a blue face. I scanned the picture and added a light sepia tone. This fixed the color right up. I was also able to re-size the picture while I was at it...
Then I matted the picture and gathered some embellishments...

I added an old window chain to the top
to hang the frame.

Then I glued in the picture...

I used an old screw to hold on the embellishments...

Now I was finished and looked for the best
place to hang the framed picture.
