Trick or Treat Sign

Simple, orange stained Halloween Sign
and transfer method.

I began by printing out "trick or treat?" in the most Halloween-like font I could find.

I used carbon paper to trace the letters onto the board.

Using a table saw I cut 2 signs out of the wood.

I used my sample of Martha Stewart Persimmon Red paint... Love the color!

adding a little water gives the wood an orange stain effect.

I let the signs dry and used a paint stick to paint in the letters.

I sanded the signs really well, added some rustys and a chain to the top for hanging.

I tried my new Halloween sign in several places around my house to see which one I liked best.

Good thing I made two!

  8. Susan - Great job! The sign looks really cute everywhere but I think it's perfect against the brick wall on the porch with the creepy, crawly spider lurking nearby!
