How to Make a Vintage Button Bedspread

One of my favorite things is the Anthropologie Crowned Crane Duvet, the one with the buttons.

My daughter has one and I just love it but it is #1 quite costly and #2 doesn't come in bright white.

So I did the next best thing... I found a white puckered duvet cover at Target!

I got out my vintage button collection and I started sewing.
(many of these vintage buttons came from my great grandfather's house...)

I added a button to every tuft.

It was slow at first.

but eventually I finished a sham.

Then I worked on the shams.
(the Target set actually comes with the shams too!)

after a while...

ok half the day...

I finished the whole queen size duvet!

I absolutely LOVE the way it came out.

The vintage buttons are all different, it was exactly the look I was going for and worth every button!
