How to Make a Vintage Button Bedspread

One of my favorite things is the Anthropologie Crowned Crane Duvet, the one with the buttons.

but it is #1 quite costly and #2 doesn't come in bright white.

So I did the next best thing...

I found a white puckered duvet cover at Target!

I got out my vintage button collection
(many of these vintage buttons came from my great grandfather's house...)

and I started sewing.

It was slow at first.

but eventually I finished a sham.

and then the other one.
(the Target set actually comes with the shams too!)

after a while....

ok half the day....

I finished the whole queen size duvet!

I absolutely LOVE the way it came out.

The vintage buttons are all different, it was exactly the look I was going for and worth every button!

  5. Excellent job, Susan! The inspiration is so pretty; I like the gray but it wouldn't go with any of my bedrooms. Your find of the white one at Target is perfect. It looks just like it!
