I love making home decorations with shells that I've collected over the years. 
We live near the beach and visit the Caribbean often so I have a whole box of beautiful shells, sea glass, and treasures. 
While I was in Target the other day I found a mirror and I knew just what I was going to do with it.

I am a sign maker so it only makes sense that I'd love mini signs for Christmas.

I'm already loving the beach this summer so when I found this bag of starfish I was all about the coastal decor.

When I found this beautiful vase it was just the right color and I knew I could make it look even more nautical with a touch of macrame. 
I used to love macrame back in the day and lately I've made several great projects with the macrame cord I bought on Amazon. 
Today's beautiful project is one I'll keep around all summer!

This project began with an interesting pack of distressed wooden boards I found at the craft store. 

Just in time for the summer season I created a Lifeguard Sign that looks like it's been out in the sun at the beach for years.

I returned from a great week on vacation and brought back a bunch of pretty shells. As you all probably guessed, I just couldn't leave them alone. As pretty as they were, I needed to give them a little pizazz! 

An antique oval mirror found at the thrift storeundergoes a major transformation.

This is exactly the kind of tray that might get overlooked  at the thrift store. It was brown, stained, and pretty ugly.

This is an idea I borrowed and tweaked from a local artist who makes and sells beautiful decoupaged jewelry dishes.

Just recently Deb, a friend of Homeroad, contacted me and asked me if I had any left, she wanted them for the tables at her son's rehearsal dinner.
Since it was the middle of winter, driftwood was hard to come by so I convinced Deb to try another idea. 
I happen to have the slats from a 100 year old oak barrel in my basement. 
She asked me if it was possible to make 10 of them look like buoys, each one a little different. 
I cut up the slats and made a sample...

She loved it! 
So I got to work making 10 buoy hang tags... all a little different.

A few days later, off they went to hang on centerpieces for her son's rehearsal dinner.
