Stiffened burlap fabric can be used to create a beautiful rustic Spring vase for flowers.
This project began with a
scrap of burlap and a recycled pasta jar.
First I wiped the jar down with a light coat of baby oil so the fabric would not stick to the jar.
I wrapped the
burlaparound the jar being careful to create even folds of fabric then secured it with rubber bands.
I trimmed the burlap with scissors so there was a straight edge along the top.
Next I painted the burlap with
Fusion Mineral Paint's Ultra Grip. You can also use
Matte Mod Podge.
Besides helping paint stick to shiny surfaces,
Ultra Grip is great for stiffening fabric and for decoupage.
