This cute project was inspired from a similar one I saw while out shopping. Often, in the middle of the store I say... "Hey, I could make that for much less!" and I did!

Sometimes I like to just mess around in the workshop and see what I come up with. Today that was my plan and I think my project is pretty darn cute! 

Sometimes one project just naturally leads to another, so if you are ready for some cute recycled heart projects... I've got you! 

Here is a cute last minute candy corn decoration you can make for the Fall. All you're going to need for this project is wire, burlap, and paint! 

I'm reposting this story about the time I headed to a table of free items advertised on my my local Facebook page and noticed a large piece of aluminum duct work in the road.

I saw a similar project on a website that I loved but wanted to make one for myself in my own style. 

Recently, I had the opportunity to work with a great online company that supplied me with burlap for a few projects I had in mind for the fall. 

Stiffened burlap fabric can be used to create a beautiful rustic Spring vase for flowers. 
This project began with a scrap of burlap and a recycled pasta jar. 








First I wiped the jar down with a light coat of baby oil so the fabric would not stick to the jar.
I wrapped the burlaparound the jar being careful to create even folds of fabric then secured it with rubber bands. 
I trimmed the burlap with scissors so there was a straight edge along the top. 

Next I painted the burlap with Fusion Mineral Paint's Ultra Grip.
You can also useMatte Mod Podge. 
Besides helping paint stick to shiny surfaces, Ultra Grip is great for stiffening fabric and for decoupage.

Are you a coffee lover like I am? 
I am a lover of all things coffee so when I found this coffee stencil from Old Sign Stencils by Funky Junk Interiors.

I'm using this stencil on everything! 

There are several different stencils to choose from and these are a few of my favorites.
You can see the stenciling tutorial on the Coffee Station post I did using the same stencil.

This time I stenciled a piece of old, wrinkled burlap using the same process.
When the stencil was dry, I wrapped the burlap around a wooden frame ... stapling it all the way around.

I used thick jute to criss cross the front of the memo board, using screws to secure the jute to the sides.

A vintage canvas becomes a burlap message center.

Today I'm making an easy Christmas banner to hang on the mantel.
