This is not your usual DIY post from me, this story is introducing you to one of our latest family members. Meet Finn, or TheFinnstasinsta as he's known on Instagram. 
In this story I'd like you to meet the little bundle of energy and maybe I can even get some tips and tricks from you this time. 

My day began as any other day but today is the first day of my summer break, what a perfect time to add to the family!  As some of you know, we just lost our "Kitty." We had her for 23 years (yes, 23!) and it was starting to get a little lonely around here despite the fact that we have a 10 month old lab puppy. If you are a cat lover you will know what I mean. My 5th grandchild is due in August and we have a new puppy, but I needed a new cat. Call me crazy! 
My daughter and I set out to visit a few home foster places for cats but finally ended up at the Little Shelter near our home. They had room after room of large cats and a small room for kittens. Going along on my regular day today when boom!

Sometimes you just need to go with your gut... even if it wasn't in the plan. 

Over two years ago I embarked on the opportunity to open a booth in a shop in town. 
It was a scary thought... I had been running a successful blog for 3 years already but could I actually sell the items I make? 
Was the risk of rent, advertising, business cards, and supplies going to be worth my investments? 
I wasn't sure but I did it... I took a risk. 
And so my tiny little Homeroad Shop began. It was literally just a hole in the wall but it was mine and I was darn proud to be a shop owner.  

As time went on an opportunity to move to a larger space in the same building came up. More rent, bigger space, more inventory...
But I took another risk. 



A whole room with four walls... filled to the brim with my pain…

Summer is the perfect time to try your hand at some of my favorite patriotic projects.
