How to Make Wooden Pedestal Dishes from Lamp Parts

Lamp parts are one of my favorite things to create with.

These beauties were put together from old metal lamp bases and wooden plates.

The metal bases and assorted other metal lamp pieces were assembled to form the pedestal the painted white.

The long screw rod from the center of the lamp was also cut to size and inserted into the center of the pedestal to hold the dish.

These gorgeous wooden plates were a clearance item at Home Goods.

A three tiered serving dish was broken and the pieces were strapped together and on clearance.

Bingo!

I attached the tray to the base through the screw rod and added E6000 to secure the pieces.

A finial of lamp parts or drawer knobs is added to the top of the dish for decoration.

The wood on these pieces is gorgeous and they make the most beautiful pedestal dishes.

Before I got too many beauty shots these pretty pedestal dishes were swooped off to be a hit at my latest local craft show.

Check out the story of my blogging beginning and how I took apart a very old lamp  and created five awesome projects from that extra large lamp.

  1. I love those! I have some old lamp parts lying around and I bet I could find some wooden plates or shallow bowls at Goodwill! Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. Tania lamp parts are the BEST! You can make so many things from them... paint them, leave them brass... whatever! Thanks for the comment :)

  2. These are awesome, Susan! You have amazing vision. I love lamp parts, too. Metal, wood - even glass. It would be a fun topic for a roundup.

    1. Yes it sure would be Donna! I'm in! The problem is finding the parts... I have a junk guy around here that takes apart lamps and saves the pieces to sell... gotta go find him again!

  3. These are so cute, I'm envisioning cookies displayed. Neat combination turned into perfection, I love that! I'm getting inspired - this is the second blog I've visited this morning that's hanging out at a craft or farmers market to sell their works of art.
