Appreciating an Old Demijohn

6:00:00 AM

This is a home-made demijohn
it's made using macrame string.

I loved it... but then I found this beauty.

It is really old and I'm sure had a lot of history!

Look at the beautiful color inside that bottle!

It isn't perfect.... but it is fabulous!

It has a lot of flaws but has a lot of character.

It may have been through a lotbut it still stands strong!

It has survived the elements.

And it's inner beauty shines through!

I'm just going to turn it around and let everyone see it's best side.

Isn't that the side we all try to show anyway?

  1. Oh my! I have one of these. My hubby picked it up about 5 years ago at a nautical flea market. Had no idea that it had a name like Demijohn. Now I know! lol Our is outside mixed in with an assortment of nautical stuff near our dock. :) Lesley

  2. Those are great finds. It will be fun to decorate with them.

  3. Oh my gosh, I have one of those that a neighbor gave me several years ago. The glass bottle in mine is clear though. I usually dig it out in the fall for a branch of turning leaves or something else fall-like. I didn't know it had an actual name. I'll have to Google it to find out more info. :o)

  4. Love them both!! The little flaws add character! Martina

  5. Love both of them. They are neat. I am always on the lookout for great bottles. I have one demi-john covered in wicker. Want one of the macrame ones. Great find. Hugs, Marty

  6. They are both really neat...I so wish I had one...just a tad bit jealous:)

  7. That's a great piece! I don't see many of those when I'm out thrifting.
