DIY Chippy Framed Chalkboard

A beautiful chippy chalkboard with character...

This project began with some scrap pieces of reclaimed floor board wood.

I cut the board in half and attached it together side by side.

I used small scraps of trim molding to frame the boards and attach the boards.

I painted the board with one coat of Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint in Ironstone then distressed the paint.

I had an old wooden 5" x 7" frame laying around so I added a chalkboard and then painted it to match then attached it to the board.

Next, using a small piece of trim molding I created a chalk shelf to match.

These old reclaimed pieces of wood came together in a one of a kind chippy chalkboard with a lot of character.

  1. Very pretty. I especially like the look of the chippy frame. Yes, lots of charaacter, it's as if each piece of wood has its own personality. Am I making sense?
