How to Decorate a Deck and Secret Garden

Off my kitchen are 2 sliding doors that lead out to the deck,
my favorite room in the house...

One corner of the deck is covered with a gazebo...

Table and chair set under the gazebo

Fabric shower curtains pull closed to keep out the rain...

Outdoor furniture, rug and coffee table.

The cubbie table has found it's way out on the deck...

Almost everything out here has been found, up-cycled
 or re-purposed...

Many old treasures furnish this space...
crates, tubs, baskets, repainted lanterns, pots and shutters.

Galvanized tub filled with plants

This rusty funnel is a great place for another layer of plants...

An old gate adds interest to the side of the house...

This potting bench is one of my favorite pieces...

Beyond the deck is a secret little garden and shed...

Old shutters from a neighbor's garage
changed the look of the pallet table, one of my earlier creations...

Everything out here is just beginning to come alive...

Lettuce is coming up in the window greenhouse...

The base of an old bird bath turned upside down
in the dirt makes a great planter...

  2. I'll bet it's nice and cool under there in the Summer, too, Susan. A great place to sit and enjoy some wine before dinner or some iced tea in the afternoon - ahhhh. : ) Your gardens are looking wonderful. Such a nice view you have to look at while on your deck.

So delighted for your daughter and her hubby!! Where did they go for their honeymoon? One daughter went to the Smoky Mountains, and the other is headed to the pacific NW~~ Seattle and Oregon.

  13. Love your outdoor room. I've often thought about doing this but I had one question. Since the canopy slants toward your doors, do you have trouble with rain running off into your door? Do you have a trick? EnJOYed all the repurposing ideas.
