Enamel Mug Organizer

This cute little farmhouse project was one that came to me in the middle of the night. I love enamelware so anything I can make with it just makes me happy!

You know, those hours you spend looking up at the ceiling because your husband is snoring.

Well, believe it or not, that is when I "dream up" some of these projects.

Last night I was thinking about the 3 beautiful enamel mugs I had that were too large to use as actual mugs.

This morning, using screws and glue I attached these 3 enamel mugs to a reclaimed piece of wood.

One up and 2 sideways make a great organizer.

Those cup handles make perfect towel hooks.

In the kitchen it holds pretty table linens.

In the bathroom it can hold a towel and bathroom supplies.

The top cup is perfect for a plant.

In the craft room it is great for holding supplies.

I added chalkboard stickers to a mug for labeling.

In my unique craft room... it fits right in!

  2. I LOVE the craft room use! And I have those chalkboard sticker/labels, too, aren't they great? xoKathleen

  3. I absolutely love this! It's perfect. I love that you put the handles facing in different directions to give more options for storage - my favorite is the towel hanging from the middle cup!

  4. I love this this. So unique! And, yes, I know just what your talking about when you say snoring husband...thats exacly why I am reading blogs I love, because he is snoring right now ( who can sleep) ;)

    Sweet Dreams!

  5. Another genius idea, Susan! This cute thang will be featured in Party Junk this weekend! Thanks for the cool idea!

    1. And thank you for featuring it in Party Junk Donna :)

  6. New to crafting! Where do you find that chain for holding up the board and cups? Thanks.

    1. The chains are reclaimed from old windows.

    2. You can buy several sizes, lengths and types of chain at your hardware stores.

  7. Brilliant idea... plz help how to fix the cups on the wooden board.

    1. Hi Bhavna! I actually drilled holes through the mugs and attached them with screws. You need to use tape over the hole you are drilling so it doesn't chip the enamel mug. Good luck!

  8. Love the color of your mugs and pairing it with the reclaimed wood. I wish brilliant ideas like that would hit me while I was listening to my husband snore! Thanks for sharing this versatile piece!

  9. I love what you did here Susan, so creative. Just brilliant

  10. I love this idea, but I wish I had a lil more instruction... How do you screw into ceramic mugs without breaking them?

    1. Hi Sharon, thanks for visiting! These mugs are enamelware, basically metal mugs that were easy to drill a hole through. If you use ceramic mugs you’ll need a ceramic drill bit and a few drops of water to drill through it.
      Hope that helps!
