Junkers United with Family Tree Shelves and a Giveaway!

I'm Susan and this is Homeroad where I create
projects that are repurposed and reloved.

I use found objects and thrift store finds
to create one of a kind home decor projects.

My Junkers United project took
shape when I was out getting some exercise on a
walk around my neighborhood.

I ran across tree slices from a tree that had just been cut down.

The bark was so beautiful that my wheels
started turning the minute I found it...

I began by cutting a straight line along the rough
cut of the slice.  I stained the top and the bottom.

Using wood glue and screws
I attached the slice to a painted board.

I cut out the word Family using vinyl and my
Silhouette machine and stenciled it onto the painted wood.

The "y" in family actually bends onto the shelf.

Following the same plan as above, I made
a smaller shelf using a wedged piece.

The bark is so beautiful, it is nice to show it off.

So that is it... A shelf make from slices of an old tree.

I adore the bark rims for their natural rustic texture and you can bet I'm eyeing up my firewood right next to me wondering on on earth I could make this work! LOVE this!

  13. The grain sack bag is wonderful, but what is better that following Funky Junk Donna led me to you. I've invited several of my like-minded friends to join you, as well. I try to find a new blog to follow each week, and you're my new friend. Have a great day and enjoy your birthday week. I must say though that I quit counting birthdays when I retired, I finally realized the old saying that you are only as old as you feel and I certainly don't feel my 64 years any more!
