Gallery Frame for Beautiful Artwork
I needed a special place to display my favorite art work...
I love art but my favorites art is the artwork of my children.
I needed a place of honor to display all the gorgeous pieces they create.
My youngest is in high school, she makes beautiful drawings and paintings in art class.

To create this special display place I'm using a large antique frame I found at a thrift store.
I removed the needlework and the inner frame that was previously on display in this frame.

I painted the frame with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Pure White.
I cut a piece of thick foam core to fit the inside of the frame.
Using spray adhesive I sprayed the board, covered tit with painters cloth and stuck it back into the frame.

The neutral gallery frame is perfect for displaying without distracting from the featured artwork.
Clear push pins hold the pictures and make it easy to change out the artwork.
This gorgeous piece was drawn with colored pencils by my 16 year old.
I just love it and the neutrals are perfect in my house.
Read about another of my favorite paintings created by my oldest daughter for my 50th birthday {here}.
Your daughter does beautiful work. You must be very proud of her. I love the black background behind the hands. Also noticed the frame with the ornaments on it. How cute your house is with all the original artwork you all do.
ReplyDeleteAwww thanks so much! I love displaying their art! The frame around the hands is also handmade and repurposed from an old bench. You can search for that project above. :) Happy New Year!
Deletethe two hand drawing is incredible!! i love this...i want this...i'm sure its one of your kiddo's drawing but wow..it really is fantastic and would look great in my house.
ReplyDeletegreat idea too. i have framed all my son's drawings too (he would draw for hours that is until the guitar came along) i even have one in a old barnwood frame in the bathroom!!!
This was a very easy project so search your local thrift store for a beautiful frame you can repurpose. You can also use this as a bulletin board in the office and tack on notes and receipts.... I kinda like the artwork myself :)
DeleteYou have very talented children, I love both pictures. I love your ideas for around the house. Thank you. Hugs,
ReplyDeleteGreat way to make you old frames useful again! I have one in my closet right now that I should try that out on.
ReplyDeleteYou have two very talented artists in your family! Love them both and the unique way you have them displayed. Thanks, Susan, for sharing with us at VIP!!!
