I used 1" x 1" pieces of wood from an old crate and some from an old painted chippy piece of furniture to create the tree. 


I didn't have any vintage rulers so I used pieces of ruler washi tape and fabric tape measure pieces.  


This awesome vintage tape measure is my favorite!
