Rustic Antique Crate for Flowers

Back in the corner of my basement I found an old, antique crate that is perfect for this project.

Don't get me wrong, it's a very cool crate but I need to fix it up a little bit.

The nails are the original, they are very old and the crate is honestly ready to fall apart.

I'm helping it out by adding a little wood glue and my nail gun to secure the sides.

It is also time for Ten on the Tenth and the theme this month is Mother's Day gifts.

Wouldn't this be a great way to give Mom a gift of beautiful flowers?!

I added handles to the sides then gave the front of the crate a quick stenciling.

It was so quick that I didn't even take pics of the process.

I used a DecoArt Americana Decor stencil called Botanical.

I used dark green paint for the leaf and then a black to stencil the berry design on the wood.

I gave the crate a coat of hemp oil wood finish to protect the very dried out wood from more damage.
