Rustic Easter Bunny Sign
I was the lucky recipient of a few broken picnic bench pieces. They were from an old children's set, the best of the batch were the bench seats.

Most of the tables were broken but the bench seat top was perfect for making a rustic sign.
On a recent trip to the craft store I saw a few Easter signs that inspired me.

I began this project by staining the bench seat with Rustoleum Decorative Glaze.
I use this to stain almost everything I make and as you can see, I'm ready for a new can myself.
Next, I drew a large bunny silhouette on a piece of card stock.
I taped 2 pieces of the card stock together so it would be the same size as the wood.
I cut out the bunny and traced the silhouette onto my board.

Next, I painted the bunny shape with a coat of white chalky paint.
I gave it a light coat of paint because I want to rough it up and stain it when it is dry.

The bunny got a cute little nose, whiskers, and eyes using craft paint and a Sharpie paint marker.
When the paint dried, I sanded the edges and across the top of the bunny to make it look distressed.
I went over the top of the bunny with a little bit of the same stain on a rag to tone down the white and make the bunny look old.
I created a bow using a buffalo check edged burlap ribbon and hot glued it to the bunny's neck.

On the back are two picture hangers for hanging.
