Metal First Aid Box
Another thrift store find with a lot of potential...
This metal box called to me from the shelf at the thrift store and it could have any number of uses so it came home with me.
The first thing I did was to paint it red. I used a chalky paint because it sticks so well to metal.
I drew a circle onto the box and painted it white.
I added a painted cross then used vinyl letters for the first aid sign.
I coated the box with a quick coat of Polycrylic sealer then rubbed over it when it was dry with a rag that had a small amount of dark wax so it would have an aged look.
I lucky enough found a key in my collection that fit the box.
and that old junker made a beautiful first aid box.

ReplyDeleteLooks great, Susan! I can't believe you found a key for it!
ReplyDeleteHow creative to make it a first aid box! The real thing is so hard to find - it makes sense to just make your own! I wouldn't have thought of thought to use chalk paint on metal, that's interesting that it sticks so well.
ReplyDeleteCassie I haven't really found anything that chalk paint won't stick to... it is amazing and Annie Sloan Chalk Paint is my favorite.
