Pretty Green Potting Bench

This little piece was even tossed out
by the church. Out to the curb it went
until we came along that is...

You would think the church would have shown a little mercy... but I guess they just couldn't see it's hidden potential.

But I did....

I saw a pretty green potting bench in it's future.

I dragged the piece into my garage and went at it with
a fresh coat of paint.

I painted the outside with Behr paint with primer in Fresh Olive.

I painted the inside with Old Ochre Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.

I coated the inside of the well and inside the shelves with Polycrylic sealer for ultimate protection from dirt.

The well is perfect for planting and the little drawers are just the right size for seeds and hand tools.

I added new black knobs and handles to the doors and drawers then added a large handle to the side to hold a towel.

Admittedly this is almost too pretty for a potting bench but I'm imagining it in someone's indoor porch piled high with plants and terra cotta pots.

I'm thrilled with the color and I love the black knobs and handles against the fresh green color.

I saw the potential in this old cast off and I'm glad I did!
