Repurposed Apothecary Cabinet

I saw it and I knew it was just what I was looking for.

The minute I saw the cupboard that Angie at
Knick of Time created, I knew I wanted to make one of my own.

Angie created hers from found pieces that went together like magic! Looks like it is at least 100 years old.

So here is my take on this cupboard...

I am including a few Amazon affiliate links so you can find the products I use at no additional cost to you.

First I knocked out the glass which actually just fell out once I removed the interior rubber caulking.

I traced the glass onto a piece of hardware cloth and stapled it inside the door.

I used Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint in Ironstone then distressed to give the cabinet that old, worn look.

I couldn't be happier with the look of this piece!

Remember where it started?

As always, thanks for the inspiration Angie!

  2. I love the shape of the door, but I liked the glass on it too. You did a great job, though and it's just what you wanted!

  4. I think you did an awesome job of transforming the piece but... I would have loved to have seen it with the glass still in place after you lightened up the wood. I think the design on the glass would have been showcased.

  5. have you ever done any recycling of aluminum blind slats? I just took down the 65 year old ones from my side door. They are 2" x 24" and I just can't think of what to do with them. I don't want to take them to the recycle place just yet but hubby is anxious for me to start moving my "junk". LOL

    1. I've seen some really pretty screen printings done on blinds.you might consider something that shows outdoors when the blinds are open, and indoors when the blinds are closed. Just a thought.
