Roll Top Desk with Typewriter
I love trying new products...
Today I'm working on a roll top desk using Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint in Typewriter and a bonding agent.
This small roll top desk was adorable to begin with but I knew that painting it black would make it fantastic!

I love Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint so I'm trying it with the bonding agent today because I didn't want the chippy look
on this project.
The paint went on smoothly and covered well in two coats... No chipping but I did have some white residue when the paint was wet which when I brushed it in went away.
Possibly a little too much bonding agent, I never measure which is why I'm not a very good cook.
When the paint was dry I waxed the desk with clear wax.
I added white glass knobs and I'm thinking about this drawer liner, after all, the color is called Typewriter...
This cute little roll top desk is now an awesome little roll top desk.
Beautiful! Great color and re-do, Susan!
ReplyDeleteThat IS an awesome roll top desk! I love what you did with it!
ReplyDeleteTypewriter is the most beautiful color! Love that paper in the drawer. Just perfect.

ReplyDeleteOh my gosh - that is absolutely gorgeous !!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful transformation and that paper in the drawers is just perfection
( I don't measure anything either - I eyeball everything - which is awful when you're hanging pictures LOL )
xoxo

Hi Susan, the desk looks great, I have a desk similar to yours and I would like to paint it and I’m just not sure if I need to take it apart to paint the roll top or paint it intact. Would you be able to advise me before I start please.
ReplyDeleteHi Libby, I did not take it apart. I just painted it while the roll top was down and was careful to reach all the way up inside with my paintbrush. Send me a pic I'd love to see yours! Thanks for visiting!
DeleteDo you think you could use spray chalk paint or would it be too hard because of all of the small spaces?
ReplyDeleteI don't see why spray chalk paint wouldn't work. I would give it a try!
