Summer DIY Tic-Tac-Toe Game

Here is a quick little DIY game to give as a gift, keep on the deck, or take to the beach.

Summer DIY Tic Tac Toe Game

My sister sent me a photo of a checker board game at her beach rental that was made with shells... which got me thinking.

I have all these old tiles leftover from a bathroom reno a while back, so why not make a game of my own?

How about the shells vs. the rocks in tic-tac-toe?

I drew the lines using a paint stick then sprayed the tile with a matte sealer.

I filled tiny bags with rocks and shells and tied them to the board.

These are going to make great hostess gifts this summer!

And of course I'm keeping one for my own deck!

I filled a tiny bowl with the shells and rocks and
it's ready for a quick game of tic-tac-toe.

  1. I was flipping through my reading list of blogs when I saw your post...I recently made a tic tac toe game for my deck. A wooden slice of tree and some round wooden disc I picked up at Hobby Lobby. My younger grandkids love to beat nana at this game. I love how you have done yours also. Very nice.

  2. Love your blog and projects. I made one of these a while back on a diy table. I made several "pieces" sets. One of wooden craft moose pieces, and then shells dyed that I had done in the past. We love tic tac toe but we can play forever before someone actually wins. I am thinking of making a bigger version with more squares to make it harder lol.
