Vintage Drawer Message Center

When I found this very unusual piece
on the side of the road at first I wasn't sure
how this could be repurposed...

It was old and it was unusual but it was empty. There were no shelves, no bottom... nothing inside.

The first project I made from this unusual piece of furniture
was when I used the doors to create the Pedestal Chalkboard.

For this project I could remove all that awesome hardware...

Until I realized how cool the drawers were!

Four gorgeous antique drawers with some very unique hardware.

and loved the results.

So you can see where I'm going with these...

I started out with chalkboard and music pages...

I added cork, a little wooden crate that works as a shelf,
and some gorgeous metal
ribbon to the edges of the drawer...

For a little Christmas flair I added branches and a Santa
which can be removed or replaced with other seasonal decorations...

The hooks attached to the shelf hold keys or notes.

I decorated the finished drawer for Christmas
but when the branches and the Santa are removed it
will make a great organizer for any time of the year.
