Life is Better at the Lake Sign

I hope you are all enjoying a relaxing and fun Fourth of July...
maybe even at the lake!

I ran across a reproduction sign at a local box store that caught my eye...

I knew this would be an easy DIY so I got to work creating my own version of the sign...

First I started off with scrap pieces of 1x4" pine. I cut 3 pieces to the same length and using wood glue and a couple of paint sticks, attached the boards together...

Using a mixture of Fusion Mineral Paint in Seaside and black craft paint I created a new darker blue color and painted both sides of the board.

When the paint dried I distressed the boards using a piece of fine grit sand paper.

Using carbon paper and a print out from my computer of the words I wanted to use, I traced the lettering onto the board.

Finally I gave the sign a good sanding using an electric palm sander.

I don't have a lake house so I'm not sure if life is really better at the lake but I'm willing to guess it's pretty nice!

Front porch on a lake, canoe at the dock, fishing for dinner, sunset.... yep, sounds pretty great to me!
