Pallet Wood Prayer Sign

A pallet wood prayer... a special order.

I'm usually pretty secure in what I make.

I love what I do and if you like what I make and want to buy it than great!

But when someone wants a special order like this one, I start to second guess myself.

Will they really like it when I'm done?  Is this what they were thinking?

This order was for a pallet sign using a prayer.

I began by building the pallet board and staining the wood.

The customer liked the look of Graphite by Annie Sloan Chalk Paint®

Next came the font.  I didn't have the exact same font as the customer's example but I found one that was similar.

I cut it out on my Silhouette cutter then attached it to the board to use as a stencil.

Using white paint and a foam roller I rolled the paint over the stencil then removed the vinyl while the paint was still wet.

I gave the sign a light sanding over the letters and around the corners so some of the stained wood would show through and it would have a "chalky" appearance which is what the customer requested.

The customer liked the distressed look and I think it was the right choice for this sign.

I love the way it came out and I REALLY hope she does too.

Update: My customer picked it up and loved it...
she says she has a
few more special orders for me!
