I began with a broken trellis that was the core of  the chippy ladder project as well as the framing on several other magnet and bulletin boards I created for my shop.

The easel was an easy build, 3 pieces of chippy wood, my new nail gun and I was finished.

I used a vinegar and steel wool solution to give the chippy wood an aged look even on the newly cut edges.

Vintage enamel wear storage box lids make perfect magnetic surfaces for the DIY Scrabble magnets.

The key hole escutcheons come from D Lawless Hardware.

The metal lids sit easily into the channel in the chippy easel.
