Using an Old Table to Create a Potting Bench
This old table is getting a makeover...
It has been about 3 different colors since I owned it and at one time it opened into a long table but I never owned the leaves so I took out the guts and sealed it closed.
My plan is to create a potting bench from this old table by adding shelves on both the top and bottom for planting accessories.
I painted the original table green then began creating a back shelf using assorted pieces of reclaimed and new wood, wood glue, nails, screws and brackets.
Using more reclaimed wood I attached supports under the table and created a pallet style shelf for the bottom of the potting bench.
The next step was to paint the entire piece a light mossy green so all the repurposed pieces I used in this project matched.
I stained the pallet shelf on the bottom and a repurposed drawer front I'm using for the top shelf with a Kona water based Poly-stain.
This stain has a poly in it to protect the shelves from wear and tear.
I added a towel rack to the front to hang tools and towels.
This was a great repurpose for this old table and can be used inside or outdoors.
I'm thinking potting bench but it would also make a great deck table for entertaining.
And now I have a new potting bench and one more broken table from my stash is repurposed.
