Mom's Baking Company Sign Request
I received another "can you make this" request today. I get totally intimidated but I also feel a twinge of a challenge.
A customer sent me a photo which I recently found out came from Bits of Vintage and I thank them very much for the inspiration for this project.
I got to work making my own version of this great distressed wooden sign.
I used a 1"x 8" piece of wood and framed it out with 1"x 2" strips. I then painted the whole piece frame and all, white.
I cut vinyl stencils for the lettering using my Silhouette machine.
I use a site called wordmark to find similar fonts to the inspiration piece. This is a free website that lets you type in a word you want to use and it will show you that word in every font on your computer. I use it all the time!
I used a foam pouncer to paint light coats of black in my stencil then removed the vinyl.
I will admit that I had to re-do part of the lettering when I realized a few words were crooked.... it happens.
So this is my version of the inspiration sign and I hope my customer loves it...
Or actually... maybe I hope she doesn't because I sure do and it would look great in my own kitchen. LOL

Well, *I* love it! It's such a charming, homey sign. Makes me think of happy baking days with my grandmother.
ReplyDeleteThank you Susan... and luckily I didn't show you the crooked one. Sometimes it's hard to apply the vinyl when it is cut into all different shapes to fit on the board :/
DeleteI love this so much that I'm going on a hunt for a cupboard to use tomorrow! I can only hope that mine turns out half as cool as yours did!
ReplyDeleteGood luck in your hunt Lori! Send me a pic when you make one, I'd love to see your version!
