Vintage Pastry Blender Desk Organizer

I'm creating a series of repurposed vintage kitchen tools on Homeroad in the coming week. I'm giving a class at our local library and I'm preparing a few projects to demonstrate. The first repurposed project starts out with these two pieces.

A vintage pastry blender and a small wooden box that I believe was a shelf for a dollhouse at one time. This repurposed project is an easy one that involves only a few steps. I was lucky enough to receive a box of vintage kitchen tools to repurpose from my favorite local antique store.

First, I took apart the pastry blender and attached it with screws to the sides of the wooden box. This part wasn't as easy as it seems because the wing nut didn't turn, I had to use a hack saw to cut through the wood and the screw in the center. If you don't have a hack saw in your tool arsenal, you need one, I use it all the time.

Next, I drilled a hole in the front of the box and added a wooden knob.

I wiped down the wood with hemp oil to bring out the character and original beauty. Luckily the unfinished knob and wooden box were both the same unfinished wood color. Hemp oil can be used to seal the wood when you want to keep the natural look.

I filled the spaces with office supplies and post-it notes. Tiny clips and staples were the perfect fit.

The pastry blender is a great place to keep important pieces of mail and notes you want to keep right at hand.

The vintage office organizer will be right at home in my new office space along with all the other repurposed office projects I've made including another vintage pastry blender project I made several years ago for the kitchen.
