Dollar Store Valentine Scrabble Sign

I think my new favorite place is the dollar store. I feel a little better about visiting the dollar store during these times than the thrift stores. I find something new and fun to repurpose every time I go and today is no different!

Heart shelf with BE MINE with Scrabble tiles and bow

I found this simple wooden heart, and yes it was a dollar at Dollar Tree.

Supplies needed from the dollar store:

  • wooden heart
  • gingham ribbon

The first thing I did was to stain the heart.

One easy coat of stain and I was ready to add two Scrabble shelves, one along the bottom of each of the wooden slats in the heart.

I used hot glue to adhere the Scrabble shelves.

Next, I glued Scrabble letters and other game letters to 4" pieces of trim.

Some are vintage Scrabble letters, some are Anagram letters, some are faux Scrabble letters, and some are white plastic from another game.

You could just sit letters onto the shelves but I wanted the sign to be easy to change.

The first sign I made was BE MINE and the other is I LOVE YOU.

I made 2 bows from dollar store ribbon that can also be switched out.

The whole sign cost about $2 to make and looks adorable for Valentine's Day.

Change the bow and make more sayings and use this heart sign for any occasion!
