Book Page Totes
I repurposed a couple of small, old drawers today,
you almost don't recognize them as drawers anymore.
They were the small drawers from a plate rack that
hung on the wall. The drawers were cute so I grabbed them... the plate rack, not so much!
I added 2 pieces of wood to the sides of the drawers, then a chair spindle on one and a piece of decorative wood on the other for handles.
Each box got a coat or 2 of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and then clear wax.
I decoupaged book pages to the bottoms of the box then added keys and locks for decoration.
I used a product called Gilding Wax on the key and the lock to coordinate the colors of the metal.
This product is great and a tiny jar will last you the rest of your life.
Put a dab on your finger and just rub it on whatever you want to have a gilded effect. It can be done on wood as well as the metal. The gilding wax comes in many colors, today I am using King Gold.
These drawers look a whole lot better as totes!

I love seeing such novel uses for everyday things! I mean, I've passed up so many little drawers over the years, now I'll be looking at them with a different eye for sure! Thanks for the tip on the gilding wax. xoKathleen
