A Rustic Makeover of IKEA Storage Drawers With Fusion Paint
If you saw the BEFORE you would have left it in the store...
See... I told you!
An old chest of IKEA storage drawers adorned with lovely children's art...
Step one was to paint the chest of drawers white.
I used Fusion Mineral Paint in Casement on this project
because of the great coverage it offers. I wanted
to be sure to cover those clouds very well. Fusion Mineral Paint covers completely and goes on smoothly.
Notice I turned the thumb pulls on the drawers to the back.
When the Fusion Mineral Paint was dry, I grabbed my Historic Route 66 stencil from Old Sign Stencils by Funky Junk Interiors.
I laid the stencil on an angle on the front of the drawers.
Using Fusion Mineral Paint in Ash and a dry brush, I
pounced the paint onto the stencil. I used light coats
but used it darker in some areas and lighter in others to
give the image a distressed look.
I used clear wax to give the chest of drawers another layer of protection.
I drilled a hole in the center of each drawer and added a vintage wooden knob.
This cute little chest of drawers is perfect for an office
or craft room to hold supplies and crafts.
