Cigar Box Kitchen Treasure Chest

An old wooden cigar box goes around one more time...

A friend asked me if I'd like some wooden cigar boxes...

little did I know she meant 4 black garbage bags full!

My favorites of the bunch were these extra large boxes.

The first thing I did was to nail the front panel closed so it only opened on the top... I used my new power nail gun.

A hole in the front for an antique drawer pull is just the right decoration.

Using a power sander I sanded off all the writing on the box
and replaced it with a Farmer's Market Stencil from
Old Sign Stencils by Funky Junk Interiors.

The finished chest is now perfect for kitchen treasures...

What would you keep in this large wooden treasure box?

Maybe items like knives, napkins, flatware?
What else could you keep in this beautiful box?
