Cork Board Message Center with a Basket
This DIY Message Center has adorable thumb tacks and a chicken wire basket to hold mail or coupons.
I'm using a stained slatted board and a chicken wire basket for this project.
The slatted board was some kind for flooring in a previous life, maybe for an outdoor shower. Using a jigsaw I cut the board to to make it a good size for the basket I was using.
I used wire cutters to cut the chicken wire basket in half.
I drilled holes into the board at each corner of the basket and filled the holes with drops of E6000 glue.
The wires from the basket slide into the holes and the glue adheres the basket to the slatted board.
I painted the board and the basket with Versailles Annie Sloan Chalk Paint®.
Chalk Paint® is the perfect paint to use for this project because it sticks to wood and metal without chipping.
On the top of the slatted board, I attached a cork square that is also secured with E6000 glue.
At the top of the cork board I added a decorative piece of resin moulding. Clamps hold the moulding in place until the E6000 glue dries.
The moulding is painted in Versailles Chalk Paint® to match the slatted board then dry brushed with white giving the details a little accent color.
Old typewriter keys glued to thumb tacks add a stylish decorative look to ordinary thumb tacks.
This message center will look beautiful in the kitchen or office and holds coupons, notes, and mail beautifully!
