All you need is...

First apply the tape to the pillow in a stripe pattern you like.

It is important to put a piece of paper or cardboard between the layers of your fabric so the paint doesn't bleed through.

Using the sponge pouncer and a light touch of paint, pounce the paint down the stripes.

Remove the tape before the paint dries.

I made a different stripe pattern for each of the 4 pillow covers I bought.

I added a monogram to one of the pillows on each side of the stripe using a children's plastic stencil. It gave me the perfect simple vintage monogram I was looking for.

    1. Thanks Jill... I can sew but I'm not a fantastic seamstress like you are so I go for the pre-made covers :) Makes my life much easier!

  2. So happy you posted this because I'm planning on making some grain sack pillows for my couch. I have the fabric. Now I just have to muster up the courage to actually get the paint on there.

    1. Hi Jeanine, It goes fast... the hardest part is making the pillow covers and I cheated so I was ahead of the game :)

  3. Love your pillow covers, have always wanted some since I discovered blogs but the price is way too prohibitive for our SS "budget". Been seeing many grain sack projects lately, certain time, of year?
Will need to make the pillow covers out of osnaburg fabric or whatever else I can find which I like look of. I enjoy making my own covers as it leaves me with more adventurous license to be creative.

First I need to get some good tape for blocking off my lines then decide what color paint to use. Need to get myself a good spouncer. Glad you shared this project as have been wanting to try to make grain sack pillow covers and maybe a table runner. Time to edge out of my comfort zone. One nice thing is I have the time. Happy daze Really enjoy your blog
