Stenciled Burlap Projects for the Fall

Recently, I had the opportunity to work with a great online company that supplied me with burlap for a few projects I had in mind for the fall.

This is a sponsored post but all opinions are my own.
When I first opened my box of goodies I was thrilled with the quality of the burlap, it's certainly not the cheap stuff, it is good quality burlap.
I ordered wine bags with drawstrings, burlap pot covers for planters, Burnt Sienna burlap by the yard, and a 102" fringed edge table runner. All of which were sitting in front of me and I couldn't wait to get started on a few easy fall projects. The company is called Burlapfabric.com. They have a huge selection of burlap, fabrics, and craft items ready for your next project. Please visit all the bold links in this post to see the projects and products mentioned.

I began my fun with the burlap bag pot covers because I thought they were adorable! I was also thrilled to find out that IKEA metal pails fit perfectly inside them.

Do you know that it is super easy to stencil on burlap? It is very forgiving and with a dry brush, there is no leakage underneath the stencil. I used a set of cardboard holiday stencils, popped out the design and got started. You can find them in my Amazon list below.

Using a fairly dry stencil brush and black paint, I off-loaded most of the paint from my brush onto an old tile. I then brushed the paint into the stencil from the outside of the cardboard stencil to the center.

I used an oak leaf and a simple Jack-o-lantern stencil on the burlap bags. It took only minutes to finish both!

They couldn't be cuter! I dropped an IKEA pail into the burlap and filled them with flowers from my garden.

My next project were the burlap wine bags. Again, I stenciled the burlap with cardboard stencils in the same fashion.

This time I only used only the center "give thanks" part of the stencil.

You can use the draw string to tie up these wine bags or add a ribbon for a bow like I did below. These are going to make great hostess gifts for Thanksgiving!

The next item I pulled from the box was a burlap table runner. I ordered a 102" fringed runner. I happen to have a very long farmhouse table and I can never find a table runner long enough for Thanksgiving when both leaves are in the table. This one is going to be perfect!

The fringed edges on the runner come basted with the sewing machine to prevent the burlap from unraveling.

You can stencil the runner or leave it plain. I am going to leave it as is because I love the simple look of the burlap on my farmhouse table for every day use.

Lastly, I ordered a yard of Burnt Sienna colored burlap. I love, love the color of this burlap and the quality is amazing. For now I am going to use this fabric for decorating my table and mantel for the Fall. By the way, it comes in many colors.

Update: I recently used the orange burlap fabric for another project in my bathroom... it couldn't have been easier!
