Every once in a while I see a project out on the internet I want to recreate in my own way. 
Today's farmhouse pillow project looked so easy I knew I could make mine very similar using items I had at home.

It is not often I make a project for my own home but I was in need of a  bathroom cabinet. My first thoughts are always of something repurposed.
I searched my favorite antiques store for a piece that might work as a cabinet.
Here's what I found...

An old clock... the price and the size were right so I brought it home. 
Inside the clock were simple clock workings that were easily removed. 
The glass pieces on the door were actually plexiglass so I removed them from the door and saved them for another project.
The wooden box needed a quick fix with wood glue and it was ready for paint.

I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® in Pure White to give this old clock box a distressed farmhouse look.

A tiny bathroom renovation in farmhouse style.

Spring is the perfect time for fresh flowers. 

I pulled over for a very interesting find recently...

I wasn't exactly sure what it was when I found it because it was getting dark but I pulled over and threw it in the trunk. It looked to me like it was the perfect piece to give a little farmhouse kitchen style. 

When I got home I discovered that it was actually a cabinet piece that was probably a built-in to hold dishes in a kitchen. It had a bead board backing and wooden spindles. 
It is a very rustic piece, made of pine with very rough cuts,  no fine carpentry here but I liked it and knew it had potential.   The first thing I thought was that it needed to be a little taller.

 I built an apron around the base then added legs that were leftover from another project.

I get super charge when I find something fun to repurpose  at the thrift store. 

Here is a mirror I've had for a while. It's been painted a few different colors but now is repurposed into the perfect farmhouse kitchen chalkboard.

Do you ever shop your home? I mean rather than the thrift shop or clearance aisle? Shop for things in your closets and cupboards that you may not always use? Well I did today when I saw a photo in a magazine, I knew I could reproduce the wall shelf with a tray I had in my kitchen.

Another day, another screech to a stop on my way to work. Lately I've been on a streak, I'm finding so many great things on the side of the road.

It's another day and another farmhouse sign request. Last time it was for an extra large porch sign, this time it is for a kitchen sign the same size. 

Since these two signs were made for the same person, are the same size, and I made them in the same way... I'm going to send you over to the Porch Sign post for the DIY details.

The saying was found on the internet and my client asked me to create a large, long sign with the same dimensions. The placement of the lettering was going to be my decision. 

Using my Silhouette machine I made stencils using a special stencil vinyl. I am still learning all the ins and outs of the vinyl cutting machine so lining up all the words in different fonts and sizes was certainly a challenge. The sign was painted in Raw Silk by Fusion Mineral Paint and…

Have you ever wanted to change up something and obsessed about it for a long time? 
That is the story with the hanging pendant lights in my kitchen. We had the kitchen renovated 2 years ago and I've disliked the pendant lights I chose ever since. 
I thought about replacing them all together but since they've only been there for 2 years, it didn't seem like the right thing to do. 
And seeing how I am a lifetime DIYer, and a little cheap, I just didn't have it in me to just buy new lights.

then this post is for you! Old shutters are easy to find at thrift stores and on the side of the road. 

A very large farmhouse sign made from scraps. 

I'm kinda loving making Christmas signs this year. 
When I saw this gorgeous sign on Antique Farmhouse and then again in a few other places, I knew it was a sign I need to make! 
I used a vinyl cutter but if you don't have one, stencils are available that give the same look. 
There is also the "transfer" method that has always worked well for me.

I've been in search of a wall mantel for a long time. 

My youngest daughter has been on the hunt for a small end table for her apartment ever since she returned home from school. 

Have you seen these great round shelves on Fixer Upper? Do you want to get that look for almost nothing? Those round shelves Joanna fills with plants or knick-knacks are beautiful and I've figured out how to make them myself and save money too!
