Vintage Mini Summer Signs

Happy Hour sign from repurposed shutter

Now that I have your attention... let me tell you how to create cute summer signs from vintage shutters.

A great way to repurpose shutters:

This project began with a pile of vintage shutter slats and Fusion Mineral Paint in fabulous new colors... Seaside and Lily Pond.

shutter slats and paint colors

I began by cleaning off the shutters and painting each one with one coat of the Fusion Mineral Paint.

These colors are perfect for the summer!

Using an oil based Sharpie paint stick I wrote fun summer words on each shutter... yep, pool bar was one of my favorites!

When the paint dried I lightly sanded the edges of each slat.

The rough texture of the vintage slats gave the signs a beautiful old distressed look.

I drilled holes in each sign and added a length of wire for hanging.
