Decoupaged Spring Pedestal Bowl

This project just reminds me of Spring 🐦

How to Make a Spring Pedestal Bowl

It began with a simple wooden bowl and an experiment.

A wooden bowl turned into a spring pedestal bowl

The experiment was with vintage sewing patterns.

I've seen projects made with patterns before and I love the color and the look so I'm giving it a try.

I haven't used a sewing pattern in 40 years so these really brought back memories of the days I made a lot of my clothes.

I began by painting Mod Podge glossy finish all over the bottom of the wooden bowl.

I cut large pieces of the pattern and laid it onto the wet Mod Podge.

I painted over the pattern pieces with the Mod Podge as well

And then I went to bed wondering if this little decoupage experiment was going to work at all.

Before I even reached for my first cup of coffee I checked on my bowl.

Oh boy was I ever thrilled!

This was better than I even expected!

It almost looked like shiny brown paper which is a great look with the blue I chose.

I got to finishing my project with renewed enthusiasm!

I painted the candlestick and the inside of the bowl with Provence a pretty Spring Annie Sloan Chalk Paint color.

I drilled a hole in the bowl so I could attach the bowl to the candlestick with E6000 glue and a screw.

When the paint dried I gave the whole piece a coat of Fusion Mineral Paint's Tough Coat
