Repurposed Tobacco Basket Pumpkin

This was the easiest and cheapest repurposed pumpkin
yet this season!

It all began with this round, white tobacco basket from the dollar spot at Target. It was $3, I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it when I bought it but I knew it would be good for something and the price was right!
I should have known, and you probably guessed already too, that it was going to make an awesome pumpkin! Not just any pumpkin but a white pumpkin, my favorite flavor! I painted the round side of the basket with Cathedral Taupe Fusion Mineral Paint. I love this paint for everything! You can find a dealer near you by following the bold link.

I dry brushed the basket which means I didn't give it a solid coat of paint, I used a small amount of paint on my brush and gave it one light coat so some of the original white paint shined through. It changed the color just enough to give it the aged look of a "white" pumpkin.

All it needed now was a stem and leaves. I had an old piece of thick vine and a fall leaf pick that I hot glued to the top of the basket.

I hung it on the wall using a clear thumb tack and that's it, my repurposed tobacco basket pumpkin was finished!

I love it, it's simple, easy and inexpensive to make. It looks great on the chalkboard wreath display I made a while back too.
