These 20 year old oak cabinets were a wreck!

Repurposed kitchen cabinet door projects!  Day made!  A friend called me with a curb alert... well actually it was more like a store alert.  Someone was throwing out the contents of their cabinet store... did I want it? 😳 I was soon on my way and filled up my car. I could have filled up a truck but I had to draw the line somewhere. 
Some of the cabinets were wall displays with doors that opened.  For this project, I removed the door and drawer front from the frame. I'm only going to use the frame this time. I glued and nailed the drawer front to the bottom of the frame. 
Next, I cut a piece of pre-made chalkboard from the hardware store to fit the door space.  I glued and nailed the chalkboard onto the back of the larger space.  This cabinet is a beautiful natural wood color with a clear fini…

Today I'm taking a break from DIY and finally getting  around to doing some deep kitchen cleaning!


The best products for kitchen cleaning...
I've needed to clean my kitchen for a while now. I don't mean cleaning... I mean deep cleaning. 



When I finished cleaning the kitchen I decided to share about the products I used because I'm was so happy with the way it came out. 

I started out the day with a trip to the store to get a new mop. I brought home the Libman Spin Mop to give it a try!

My hard wood floors needed a good scrubbing but having wood floors, I didn't want to use too much water. This mop worked great! After spinning the mop in the spin bucket it came out dry enough to clean the floors without leaving them too wet. Take a quick look at the spin action!

I hemmed and hawed over whether or not to put an area rug in my kitchen. I had images in my head of it being covered with red juice, chocolate, and just being an absolute mess.
Well I bought a rug and that didn't happen!
After having my cabinets painted, and you can see that process HERE, I wanted something gray and off white like the paint.

I ordered this Striped Chevron Rug from Ballard Designs. 
This rug is an indoor/outdoor rug, the colors were perfect, and it was reasonably priced too.
I figured that if it ever got dirty, I could take it outside and hose it off.
I am here to tell you that the rug has been down in the center of my busy kitchen…

I'm organizing my kitchen cabinets for once and for all.

Here is a mirror I've had for a while. It's been painted a few different colors but now is repurposed into the perfect farmhouse kitchen chalkboard.

Repurposed kitchen hacks are the best!

I'm creating a series of repurposed vintage kitchen tools on Homeroad in the coming week. I'm giving a class at our local library and I'm preparing a few projects to demonstrate. The first repurposed project starts out with these two pieces. 

With the repurposing of this vintage cheese grater, I'm preparing to teach a class at our local library. I'm making  projects similar to those I've made in the past and sold. I want to show the people that come to my class how they can turn an old item into something new and fun for their homes. 

Cutting a quartz countertop after it is installed? Can it be done? This has been my question for the past 4 1/2 years. 



Several years ago we had our kitchen renovated. I wanted a beautiful white kitchen with dark hardwood floors and that is what I got. It was beautiful. 
Until I realized that the sink we agreed to was way too small for our 10' island. It was only about 30" wide! Their mistake or ours not sure but the "sink that came with the install" was definitely not what I would have chosen. Seriously small sink. 


Don't mind the mess... there was about to me even more!
